The fourteenth of November is the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru. He was fondly called as Chacha Nehru as he cared for children immensely, and so his birthday came to be celebrated as Children’s Day in India. At DSPS, Children’s Day was celebrated with a lot of fun and frolic which brought a big smile on the faces of the children. A Drawing and Colouring competition was conducted for Classes I to VIII. The students made wonderful drawings with bright vibrant colours. The competition was carried out in the school’s open amphitheater.
After the competition a small celebration was held for the students where the teachers welcomed the students with a melodious song. Then our beloved Principal Sir encouraged our students by speaking a few words of wisdom and conveyed his wishes to the children on this momentous occasion. Next the students were given an opportunity to share their feelings about school life, their childhood experiences and also to exhibit their talents. Students from Classes 6, 7 and 8 spoke about their school-life experience. Students from Classes 1 and 4 sang songs; students from Class 3 recited the Sanskrit Shlokas. Later, all the students gathered to do the ‘Chicken Dance’ which was the most hilarious and entertaining part of the celebration. The event was concluded by playing some fun games that were organized by the Physical Education teacher. Chocolates were distributed to the students on the occasion to add more sweetness and joy to the function.
The Earth reveals its innocence through the smiles of children. Childhood is an enchanting vista, a joyful classroom experience, an era of imagination, an artistic journey, an ode to love and an incredibly happy moment. Wishing all the children a very Happy Children’s Day and Happy Childhood Life!!
