At DSPS, the Teachers’ Day celebrations started with the blessings of the Almighty by singing the prayer song. The school coordinator, Ms. Shenaz Begum welcomed the staff with a speech about the significance of Teachers’ Day. Following this, the school Principal Mr. George Kurian formally wished all the teachers and appreciated them with a token of gratitude by presenting all teachers a colour flowering plant. To encourage and invigorate the teachers and build the team spirit, a small session was held by Principal Sir. The celebrations then continued with some fun games for the teachers like musical chairs and challenging ‘Minute-To-Win-It’ games. These games took the teachers back to their school days when they enjoyed playing and winning games. The day came to an end with a small lunch arranged for all staff and non-staff members.
Teachers’ Day is celebrated in honour of teachers and their contributions towards the education of students. We celebrate it to appreciate the passion and dedication with which teachers work towards enriching the life of young learners.
To the world teachers may be just a teacher but to students they are the heroes. Thus, it is essential we always put our best foot forward when dealing with them. As teachers we not only impart knowledge, we also guide them and ensure they walk on the right path. We need to inspire them by being a role model ourselves by connecting to them and understanding them and by always being supportive towards them. At Dayanand Sagar Public School, we believe we can do this by retaining the child within us so that we connect to our children. So, on this Teachers’ Day let’s remember a quote by Marilyn Appelbaum – “The children you teach may not remember you when they get older, but they will always have a part of you inside them. The part that gave them hope and love and taught them to believe in themselves.”
Let us remember another quote by the famous writer Maya Angelou – “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said. People will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
